The Rape of Rawalpindi
A compilation of images showing the pre-Partition violence that left over 2000 Sikhs dead.
The Rape of Rawalpindi was published by relief workers from Congress in the aftermath of the Rawalpindi riots that occurred in March of 1947. The violence left over 2000 people dead, with most victims being Sikhs. The publication contains images displaying the ruined bazaars, destroyed homes, burnt Gurudwaras, and the remains of the dead. A few images also show Sikhs who had been forcibly converted to Islam by the mobs. The following pictures are split on the basis of neighbourhoods:
